A religious cult leader, Roch Theriault, who had convinced his followers that the world was going to end in the late 1970s, subjected them to cruel tortures if they doubted him or tried to leave the group, according to this crime documentary.
Theriault was once a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church but formed his own group called The Ant Hill Kids, based on his dream of people working together “Like ants in an ant hill.”
Despite preaching equality, he ruled his cult harshly. All female members were required to have sex with him, and he fathered at least 26 children with his many “wives” and concubines.
