Netflix has dropped a true crime doc exploring who took over from Warren Jeffs as the leader of his controversial cult.
Trust Me: The False Prophet has landed on Netflix with cult researcher Christine Marie and her husband and videographer Tolga Katas documenting a breakaway sect of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (FLDS).
The cult was led by Samuel Bateman, who, as Netflix described, “claimed divine authority” and followed in the footsteps of Warren Jeffs, who took over from his own father in 2002.
Where is Warren Jeffs now?
Warren Jeffs, who is now 70 years old, was sentenced to life imprisonment for sexually assaulting two underage girls.
He was found guilty of forcing two girls into “spiritual marriages” after fathering a child with one of them and was given the maximum sentence.
