‘The Independent’ reports that many high-profile celebrities are members of the Church of Scientology, which has long been a source of both intrigue and controversy. In a 2008 interview, Tom Cruise commented about Scientology, saying: “We’re the authorities on the mind, we can bring peace and unite cultures.” In 1975, John Travolta became a member of the church and is quoted on the Church of Scientology website saying: “I would say Scientology put me into the big time.”
