Next month, ‘cult mum’ Lori Vallow Daybell is set to be sentenced for the murders of her two children, Tylee Ryan and JJ Vallow, and her husband’s first wife, Tammy Daybell.
But while the case which gripped America was ongoing, the Idaho mum is also facing charges in Arizona.
Vallow Daybell, 49, is set to be sentenced on July 31, after jurors took around seven hours to come to an unanimous decision in the case which shocked a nation.
She was found guilty of the first degree murders of seven-year-old JJ and 16-year-old Tylee, conspiracy to commit first degree murder of JJ, Tylee and Tammy Daybell, 49, and grand theft.
Tylee and JJ were last seen together in September 2019, pictured at the entrance to Yellowstone National Park with Lori and her brother, Alex Cox. Their bodies were discovered after police executed a search warrant at Chad Daybell’s home in Salem, Idaho, on June 9, 2020.
JJ was found dressed in red pyjamas and socks, with duct tape over his mouth and a plastic bag around his head.
His arms and legs had been bound together. JJ was found in varying states of decomposition, with one witness describing how he had been wearing a Pull-Ups diaper which was soaked from his rotting corpse.
Tylee’s remains were destroyed and burned, unearthed in a melted green bucket. Her remains were described as “just globs of flesh that were falling apart.”
Separate to the Idaho trial, Vallow Daybell is facing two separate charges in Arizona. One in relation to the death of her fourth husband, Charles Vallow, and the other in connection with the attempted murder of her niece’s ex-husband, Brandon Boudreaux.
Murder of Charles Vallow
Vallow Daybell is facing conspiracy to commit murder charges connection to the murder of her fourth husband, Charles Vallow. The pair had married in 2006, and adopted JJ, the biological son grandson of Vallow Daybell’s sister.
But in early 2019, a year after Vallow Daybell met husband-to-be Chad Daybell, the couple became estranged and Charles filed for divorce. He said he feared for the safety of himself and the children, and that Vallow Daybell had threatened to murder him.
He also shared concerns about his wife’s mental state, telling investigators she had told him she “was a God assigned to carry out the work of the 144,000 at Christ’s second coming in July 2020 and that if [Charles] got in the way of her mission she would murder him”.
Court documents showed Charles had learned about Vallow Daybell’s relationship with Chad Daybell that June, and he had emailed Chad’s wife Tammy with the information about their relationship.
