Rory Feek gives update after adult daughters accused him of exposing their kid sister to ‘abusive’ cult

Rory Feek continues to speak out amid his family’s dispute over the care of his youngest daughter, Indiana.

The singer-songwriter, 59, shared a blog post, titled ‘canceled’, just three weeks after his eldest daughters took legal action against him – claiming their father has cut them off from contacting their 10-year-old sister and put her in harm’s way.

Feek, who in July married his daughter’s school teacher, has been raising his youngest daughter in an agrarian Christian community tied to Homestead Heritage – which has come under fire after at least one of its members admitted to child sex.

In the post, Feek shares that he drove nearly two hours to Florence, Alabama, to reconcile with his estranged daughters, Heidi, 37 and Hopie, 35 – after the pair accused him of exposing their kid sister to what they have called an ‘abusive’ cult – but the trip did not go according to plan.

Feek claims he arrived at Heidi’s doorstep with a ‘peace offering’ of lily flowers in hand hoping his daughters ‘might be able to sit down and talk, or better yet, I’d just sit and listen to whatever they wanted to say and maybe have the chance to give them a hug,’ the post reads.

Even though it appeared as if someone was home, with cars in the driveway and lights on inside, no one answered to Feek’s arrival – so he left.

Heidi told People she wasn’t home when Feek arrived, but her husband Dillon and sister Hopie were.

On the drive back, Feek says he received a text from Heidi that said, ‘we are only willing to talk with you with a licensed therapist or attorney or both.’

To this Feek went up in arms, arguing in his post that reconciliation is not the job of one with a ‘doctorate, law or masters degree’ but one for them as a family to resolve.

Heidi confirmed that she filed legal documents against her father earlier this month and that her father was served the day after he drove to her home.

‘Regardless of the intention, it came off as intimidating. We’ve set really clear boundaries. We have such a hard time communicating with him and feeling heard that we really don’t feel like it’s possible without a third party,’ Heidi said.

The confrontation comes after the eldest Feek daughter claimed on Instagram that her father left her 10-year-old sister – who has Down Syndrome – ‘in the care of a group with a well-documented history of physical and sexual abuse of children.’

‘Indiana, who has special needs, deserves to be in a safe and stable environment where her well-being is the top priority,’ she wrote.

Heidi previously expressed her frustrations with her father in a letter, later published on Instagram, writing that she and Hopie had been trying to reach their dad for months but were met with no response.

She included a screenshot of multiple unanswered text messages that were sent at various points in July inquiring about Indiana and explaining why she felt the need to have a third party present for any communication.

‘The last time we sat down to have this conversation, without a mediator as you requested, you told us you were done being our father,’ she wrote in the letter.

‘Our hope is that this letter will find you, so you can know where our hearts are. Love is action, not words. We forgive you for your unkind words. You called us cowardly in your blog post for not facing you. We forgive you,’ she added.

Feek’s blog post went on to detail the famed-singer’s experience being ‘canceled,’ sharing that it was something he expected and that the only thing he is guilty of is ‘being part of a family that isn’t perfect’ and that their family is ‘a work in progress.’

He claims being ‘canceled’ has cost him writing jobs and other events as people began to distance themselves from the country artist.
