One killed in Bayelsa cult clash

A reprisal clash by two rival cult groups on Tuesday night claimed one life at the Amarata suburb of Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital.
It was learned that a fierce rivalry, broke out in the area at about 8pm between the Greenlanders and Icelanders leading to the death of the victim.
A resident, who spoke anonymously said some cultists suspected to be members of the Greenlanders stormed the Amarata/Ebis Mechanic axis of the state capital for a member of Bobos (Icelanders) who had allegedly crossed their path.
He added that the gangs armed with dangerous weapons were locked in violent clash forcing residents, who were at the various viewing centres in the area for the champions league matches to scamper for safety.
The victim was reportedly left in his own pool of blood with various degree of head injuries.
Contacted on the development, the Spokesman of the Bayelsa Police Command, Musa Mohammed confirmed the incident.
He said the corpse of the deceased has been deposited at the morgue.
