Lena Dunham’s new memoir, Famesick, debuted on Tuesday, April 14, 2026.

The new tell-all book details her experience filming her hit 2012 HBO series Girls, navigating health battles, intimate details from her five-year relationship with Grammy-winning producer Jack Antonoff, and the backlash she received after her first memoir, Not That Kind of Girl. The 39-year-old also revealed that while casting the Judd Apatow-produced series, she may have almost been recruited to the infamous Hollywood sex cult, NXIVM.

Famesick also contains shocking details about Oscar-nominated actor Adam Driver’s volatile behavior on the set of Girls, including claims that he once hurled a chair at her.

Early in the book, Lena details the process of making Girls, from her first meeting with producers to casting and eventually filming.

“I recognized a woman named Allison Mack from Smallville,” she wrote. “She wasn’t right for any of the roles but invited me via email to her ‘intimate women’s group’ every week for the next year (there but for the grace of God go I).” Years later, in 2019, Allison would famously plead guilty to charges of racketeering and racketeering conspiracy for her involvement as a high-ranking member and recruiter for Keith Raniere’s multi-level marketing company and sex cult, NXIVM.
