LDP goes through motions of addressing money scandal

The ruling Liberal Democratic Party began questioning member lawmakers about a high-profile money scandal involving LDP factions, but there was little sense it is serious about muckraking in its own backyard.
Lawmakers from the influential but now-disbanded Abe, Kishida and Nikai factions were being questioned about how and why some of the revenue from fund-raising parties was not included in political fund reports.
Questioning got under way Feb. 2 and lasted about 30 minutes on average. Lawmakers were given the topics to be covered beforehand and those looking for answers were familiar faces, not outsiders.
