Two people were reportedly killed following a clash between rival cult groups in the Mile 1 and Mile axis of Diobu in Port Harcourt on Saturday.

It was gathered that the clash was about territorial control.

Sources in the densely populated area said the first killing took place in the morning on Saturday at Odunezealane axis of Mile 3 Diobu, Port Harcourt, when gunmen suspected to be members of a factional cult group ambushed and shot their rival dead.

“So the gang members of the cult guy who was shot dead at Mile 3, Diobu, mobilised and went to Sagana/Railway axis of Mile 1 Diobu in the afternoon, same day, and they used a machete to cut their rival known as ‘Ishi’ to death,” a source said.

Punch Metro gathered that business owners and traders in the areas where the killings reportedly took place hurriedly closed and left for their residences.

When contacted, spokesperson of the State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, said she was yet to get a report of the incident.

Iringe-Koko, a Superintendent of Police, however, promised to find out and get back to our reporter, but had yet to do so as of the time of filing this report on Sunday.
