AUSTIN (KXAN) — U.S. District Court Judge Lee Rosenthal ruled Friday that former InfoWars host Alex Jones has “no standing” to appeal a bankruptcy court’s order placing the assets of Free Speech Systems (FSS), the conspiracy website’s parent company, into a receivership.

Jones and FSS in 2025 lost a lawsuit brought by the families of those killed in the 2012 mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. The total damages bankrupted Jones and FSS.

Global Tetrahedron, parent company of satirical newspaper The Onion, won a bid to buy FSS assets, which include InfoWars. The payment would allow for the Sandy Hook families to receive damages from their lawsuit.

The case has seen a myriad of appeals and this ruling likely isn’t the end of it. In the ruling, Rosenthal wrote that “Jones’ estate is ‘hopelessly insolvent.’”

“By filing for bankruptcy, [Jones] turned [his estate], including his equity in Free Speech Systems, over to his creditors in return for a near-complete fresh start,” the order states. “Free Speech System’s assets are not Jones’ and not part of his bankruptcy estate.”
