A person who suffered due to a family involved in a cult has come forward.

On the 25th broadcast of KBS JOY “Ask Us Anything Fortune Teller,” the individual stated, “My entire family is involved in a cult. My mother, sister, and younger brother. I was also forced to attend until I was twenty. It has been 24 years since I lost contact with my family,” expressing feelings of injustice.

He recalled, “When I was in the second grade, people came to pray, sing, and read the Bible. In the fourth grade, I didn’t want to go to worship, so I went to an arcade. However, my mother beat me with an electric wire for an hour. I was told to take off my clothes and was only in my underwear. I hid in an abandoned car in a park for three days. My mother said that if I didn’t listen, she would take off my underwear and kick me out.”

He said that in middle school, he had to wear a suit to evangelize. The individual revealed, “I earned money by delivering newspapers because she didn’t buy me clothes, but my mom demanded all the money. I had to pay 25,000 won for a retreat, but then I was beaten with an electric cord again. I was beaten four times a month. Since I was beaten, I couldn’t help but take it.”

He further noted, “I had a fly stuck in my ear. When I broke my leg, she didn’t take me to the hospital. My religion came before me. I thought the only way to escape was the military, so I applied to the special forces. I saved money from my salary there. I asked my mother for just 10 million won to become independent, but she got angry, saying she raised me for over 20 years and I should just leave legally.”
