DOJ ends Surigao del Norte ‘cult’ Probe

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Justice (DOJ) has concluded its preliminary investigation on the criminal complaints filed against 13 members of the Socorro Bayanihan Services Inc. (SBSI), an alleged cult in Surigao del Norte.

DOJ Undersecretary Mico Clavano said the panel of prosecutors submitted the case for resolution, adding that efforts are underway to resolve the case ”as expeditiously as possible.”

Clavano said both the complainants and respondent appeared during the preliminary investigation.

The accused presented their supplemental affidavits, which were affirmed by their witnesses.
