It was a discovery that shocked all those who witnessed the horror that had been happening in one family home.
It was an incest cult of nightmares was uncovered and had been started by two great-great grandparents in a remote farming valley, away from the eyes of the world.
Their descendants were left unable to speak, or see – chained to generations of sickening inbreeding. When they were finally discovered by social services, staff were horrified to find 38 people living in squalor, all related to one another.
The severely abused children were disabled beyond the point of being able to speak. On moving to foster homes, their new families noticed hyper sexual behaviour. Years later, one of the parents posted to Facebook with the nauseating message “Love Makes a Family”, according to the New Zealand Herald.
For the Colts – a court given pseudonym – the hell began with June and Tim, who married in New Zealand in 1966 and emigrated to Australia. They had seven children, with Martha being the youngest. Each child in the group of 38 had suffered years of sexual abuse, perpetrated by brothers, sisters, cousins, fathers, an uncle and a grandfather over four generations.
