Alleged religious cult leader William “Little Pebble” Kamm, which a court has heard has a “dangerous interest” in girls under 16, is set to be released on bail while awaiting trial over allegations he groomed a child.
The 72-year-old has been in custody since early March after he and his 58-year-old partner Sandy Mathison were arrested over allegations they groomed a girl from when she was six on the New South Wales south coast.
A 19-year-old woman reported the abuse allegations to police last September.
The Downing Centre Local Court heard the alleged grooming happened while Mr Kamm was in jail or under an extended supervision order (ESO) after his release on parole, which has been in place since 2016.
Under those orders, Mr Kamm is unable to associate with any woman under the age of 17.
During a bail application, which ran over Wednesday and Thursday, police prosecutor Sergeant Mark Philipson told the court police allege Mr Kamm was in contact with the girl until she was 17, which occurred via letters and on the phone.
