One Tree Hill star Bethany Joy Lenz has issued an emotional apology to her parents after spending 10 years in a cult.The American actress, 43, appeared on the podcast I’ve Never Said This Before With Tommy DiDario when she thanked her parents for “sticking by” her despite previously being “estranged”.
“I’m still scared of having vulnerable conversations with my parents… I’m scared of emotion,” she said on the podcast.
“I don’t know if I’ve ever just flat-out said to my parents, ‘I’m sorry for what I put you through in those 10 years.’ I think we’ve danced around versions of that but I don’t think I’ve ever just flat-out said that.”She added: “Mum, Dad, I’m really sorry for what I put you through for those 10 years. It’s been a while out of it now but… Thank you for sticking by me and for your patience and grace.”The star added that she will call them to speak further and apologise directly to them.
