One Tree Hill’s Bethany Joy Lenz’s Former Father-in-Law Addresses Cult Accusations

As the One Tree Hill alum has continued to share her experience as a member of The Big House Family organization, which she’d described as a “cult,” the ministry’s founder and her former father-in-law Michael Galeotti refuted the allegations.
“Everybody sees things a little differently and she’s going to cling to the fame,” he told Dailymail.com in an interview published Oct. 22. “Good for her. She’s going to make a name for herself. But it’s not the way it went down.”
In her memoir Dinner for Vampires, out now, she shared insight into how she became involved with the group and ultimately married Michael’s son Michael Galeotti Jr., with whom she shares 13-year-old daughter Rosie. (They divorced in 2012 after seven years of marriage.)
And while his dad didn’t hold back on sharing what he thinks about the Pearson actress’ recollection of the group, Michael Jr.’s first priority is their daughter.
“I don’t know what to make of this memoir after all this time,” he told the outlet. “I have a daughter who’s really important to me. I don’t want it to affect her. It’s too much. I don’t really want to cause any problems for her.”E! News has reached out to reps for Bethany and has not yet heard back.The Galeottis’ comments come days after Bethany gave more insight into her time at The Big House Family, including distancing herself from her family, which she said the group influenced her by noting that her mom was “spiritually in a different place.”
“It happens really slowly,” she explained on the Call Her Daddy podcast Oct. 16. “There were small comments dropped, like ‘Don’t forget, we’re your family, we’re here for you.'”
