Woman laments loss of newborn to birth complications, blames rigid church doctrine
Published By admin
A heartbroken mother has shared her painful experience of losing her newborn due to childbirth complications worsened by her church’s strict prohibition of medical care.
In a viral account, the woman recounted being raised in a religious sect that forbade medication, hospital visits, or any form of medical intervention. Having grown up with this doctrine, she never questioned it, until pregnancy challenged her beliefs.
Following her church’s teachings, she skipped antenatal checkups, refused multivitamins, and avoided hospitals throughout her pregnancy. But by the third trimester, her health began to decline significantly.
Concerned for her life, she secretly visited a doctor and was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia, a life-threatening condition that required urgent care. When she informed her husband, he reacted angrily and, along with his family, pressured her to rely on faith instead of medicine.
Her condition worsened, and one night she collapsed. She was rushed to the hospital where doctors recommended an emergency C-section due to critically high blood pressure. Although her husband initially objected, he ultimately agreed to the surgery, but not without blaming her for “breaking faith.”
Sadly, the baby was born with severe complications and placed in intensive care. After a month in the NICU, the infant passed away.
Now, the grieving mother says her husband’s family blames her for the tragedy, accusing her of lacking faith. Disillusioned, she says she is abandoning the church that she believes contributed to the loss of her child.
She said in part…
“I lost my baby due to my church doctrine. The church which I attended, whose name I don’t want to mention, frown on anything medication. This is a church I was born into. We do not take medications because we believe that we can never be sick. We believe also that our body is for God and no mankind medications can have any effect on the body. We cannot be sick hence we don’t take any medication. When the sickness comes, we command it and it goes away. This is how I’ve lived all my life because that was the church my parents were going before they gave birth to me….”
