Taxi driver killed in Rivers cult violence

Tragedy struck on Sunday night June 1, as suspected cultists shot dead a taxi driver around Echue Street by Iloabuchi axis of Mile 2 Diobu, Port Harcourt City Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Daily Sun gathered that the taxi driver, whose identity could not ascertained, was killed during a “territorial control” shoot out between suspected BS (Blood Star) and D12 (December 12) houses (branches ) of Deygbam cult groups along Iloabuchi Street Mile 2 Diobu, Port Harcourt at about 11 pm on sunday night.

Sources disclosed the corpse of the taxi driver was later retrieved by Police operatives from Azikiwe Police Division, Mile 2 Diobu, Port Harcourt.

It also could not be ascertained if the deceased belonged to any of the cult groups involved in supremacy battle on Sunday night.

Suspected BS and D12 houses of Deygbam cult groups had engaged in shoot out forcing business owners and traders to scamper for safety, as the rampaging hoodlums also robbed shop owners and dispossessed passersby of their belongings.

State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Grace Iringe-Koko, a Superintendent of Police (SP), has confirmed the incident to journalists, adding that investigation is ongoing.
