The Roman Catholic Diocese of Worcester has received 209 allegations of clergy sex abuse since its founding in 1950 through 2022, according to report released by Bishop Robert J. McManus on Jan. 31.
Of those 209 allegations, the diocese found that 173 were credible, 20 were unsubstantiated or unable to be proven and eight were deemed false or withdrawn.
Nearly 54% of the 173 the allegations were brought forward after 2004 by the victims themselves, legal counsel or family members.
