Provincial Department of Cults and Religion summons ‘guru’ who famous singer allegedly donated $200,000

The director of the Preah Vihear Provincial Department of Cults and Religion says that the ministry and relevant institutions have summoned a well known guru to make a contract for activities that led to misunderstandings related to religious beliefs.
Mr. Huot Kea, director of the Preah Vihear Provincial Department of Cults and Religion, said that in the case of a person named Han Phe, who established himself as a hermit at the foot of Mount Treng, the ministry and relevant institutions had already summoned him to make a contract, especially for activities that led to misunderstandings related to religious beliefs with the intention of exploiting some benefit.
He added that the man had a plan to establish the Vong Chakrayut Ashram to turn it into a meditation center, but did not have enough funds and was only making temporary accommodations.
The Ministry of Cults and Religion has also released a record that was resolved in March 2025, related to the man, who established himself as a hermit and planned to build the Vong Chakrayuthi monastery at the foot of Mount Treng, in Kraing Dong village, Preah Khleang commune, Thbeng Meanchey district, Preah Vihear province.
Based on the minutes of the discussion held in the presence of His Holiness Preah Promrattanamoni Pin Sem, a member of the Thera Sabha of Cambodian Buddhism, and with the participation of Mr. Chai Borin, Minister of Cults and Religion, as well as provincial leaders and other relevant authorities, it was decided that a person named Han Phea should delete all videos posted on social media.
Singer Meas Soksophea had previously donated a large amount of money to this person to buy about 5 hectares of land at the foot of Mount Treng.
According to social media, Ms. Meas donated up to $200,000 to the middle-aged monk.
The famous singer’s faith has caused her problems with her family, especially her husband, to the point where she wants a divorce, on the grounds that he doesn’t understand her and can’t help her solve any problems, unlike the monk Han Phea, who always helps solve problems.
