The prosecution, investigating the suspicion of the ‘Gunjin Beomsa Gate,’ conducted an emergency search and seizure of the luxury company Chanel Korea. This is to find the whereabouts of a Chanel bag that a former senior official of the Unification Church reportedly gave to Jeon Seong-bae (65) as a gift for Kim Keon-hee, the wife of former President Yoon Suk-yeol.

According to the legal community on the 16th, the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors’ Office Virtual Asset Crime Joint Investigation Department (Director General Park Geon-wook) recently searched the residence of Mr. Jo, who was an administrative officer in the second office of the presidential office, and Chanel Korea. The prosecution is looking into allegations that Mr. Yoon, who was regarded as the No. 2 in the Unification Church, handed over money and goods intended for gifts for Mrs. Kim to Mr. Jeon while making various requests.

On the 30th of last month, the prosecution also searched the residence of Mrs. Kim in Seocho, the office of Kobana Contents, and the homes of two former secretaries of Kobana Contents. The warrant reportedly specified requests made by Mr. Yoon, including support for the Unification Church’s development project in Cambodia’s Mekong River, acquisition of YTN by the Unification Church, hosting the United Nations Fifth Office in Korea, and invitations to the presidential inauguration ceremony.

However, the prosecution has not yet secured a significant amount of key evidence, such as necklaces, and it is reported that they have also been unable to unlock the password of Mrs. Kim’s mobile phone.
