Police Conduct Third Interview with Yoon Youngho, Key Figure in “Unification Church Lobbying” Allegations

On the morning of January 5, at around 9 a.m., the police special investigative task force visited Seoul Detention Center, where former Director Yoon is being held, and began the third round of questioning.
The police had previously visited Seoul Detention Center on December 24 to conduct an interview investigation, but it was unsuccessful due to former Director Yoon’s refusal. Subsequently, on December 26, they executed an arrest warrant and carried out a second investigation.
Former Director Yoon is suspected of delivering cash worth tens of millions of won and luxury watches to former Minister of Oceans and Fisheries Jeon Jaesoo, former Democratic Party lawmaker Lim Jongseong, and former United Future Party lawmaker Kim Gyuhwan between 2018 and 2020.
Earlier, the police referred former Universal Peace Federation (UPF) Chairman Song Kwangseok, President Han Hakja, former World Headquarters Director Yoon Youngho, and Han’s former chief secretary Jung Wonju to the prosecution on charges of violating the Political Funds Act.
The prosecution indicted former Chairman Song for violating the Political Funds Act, but requested the police to conduct supplementary investigations regarding President Han, former Director Yoon, and former Chief Secretary Jung.
