Paige DeSorbo, 32, opens up on past abusive relationship she endured at 19: ‘Fully brainwashed’

Summer House star Paige DeSorbo talked about her painful past in a new episode of her podcast Giggly Squad, via Us Weekly.
The 32-year-old reality star opened up about a past abusive relationship she was in when she was 19 years old, adding that she was ‘fully brainwashed.’
‘I probably got my most insecure when I was 19 or 20. I dated a really physically and mentally abusive man, and it changed my whole course of dating in my 20s,’ Paige said.
‘I don’t even know if I’ve even said that on the pod, that I was in an abusive relationship before, but I feel like if I’m going to say it, this is the episode I would say it because I know for a fact, a ton of other girls have been in them too,’ she added.
Her candid words comes in the same podcast where she announced her three year relationship with Southern Charm star Craig Conover was over.
She stated in her podcast that their split was amicable but didn’t explain why they went their separate ways.
Reflecting on her previous abusive relationship at age 19, Paige noted that it was a ‘very weird time’ in her life.
Adding that she was ‘fully brainwashed’ by her ex-boyfriend.
The star did not divulge his name or who he was during the podcast.
‘I was 19, I was 20 years old, I couldn’t legally drink. It really did change a lot of how I looked at relationships. I’d never been exposed to that ever. I never thought they could be me.’
Paige said that she is not ‘ashamed’ of her past relationship, but that she is ‘really proud of’ herself and how she handled it during and after.
She also learned why what she was attracted to led her to that relationship.
‘I looked for chaos, and I looked for pure adrenaline and emotion,’ she reflected.
‘I was like, this is so fun, and this is so crazy. I would get out of one bad relationship and get into a slightly better one, but by standards, very bad.
The reality star said that she continued this pattern until age 26.
At that time she got into what she called a ‘normal’ relationship, however it didn’t work out.
Following the end of her first ‘normal’ relationship, Paige met Craig.
‘When I got out of my previous relationship and I was single and I met Craig, I was like, I finally figured it out. I’m gonna be with someone that loves the f**k out of me. This is all happening the way it’s supposed to be,’ she said.
Paige and Craig first met in the Hamptons while filming Bravo’s Summer House and later forged a deeper bond on the spinoff series Winter House.
Their chemistry had fans buzzing for months before they finally confirmed their romance on Instagram in October 2021, putting an end to swirling speculation.
Their relationship went from strength to strength until Monday, when she shocked fans with news that the beloved couple have split – even surprising Andy Cohen.
‘Craig and I have decided to no longer be together,’ DeSorbo revealed during Monday’s episode of her and Hannah Berner’s Giggly Squad podcast.
Fighting back tears, the reality star admitted discussing the breakup publicly felt ‘weird,’ but she made it clear she holds only positive feelings for Conover.
