Police in Brisbane are investigating an incident that saw over 200 individuals, predominantly teenagers, storm the Church of Scientology on George Street as part of a viral social media trend. The event, which unfolded over the weekend, culminated in acts of vandalism, including several teenagers climbing onto police vehicles.
Acting Superintendent Simon Tayler disclosed that law enforcement had initially anticipated a modest gathering based on social media indications, but were caught off guard by the sheer number of participants. Officers had assigned just three officers to monitor the location, expecting no more than a dozen attendees. However, the turnout exceeded expectations, complicating their ability to maintain order.
