A Gweru-based fake prophet from an apostolic sect was sentenced to four years in jail for kidnapping a female fuel attendant.

Chengetai Mudhedye was dragged to the Gweru magistrate court last week where he appeared before magistrate Nixon Mangoti.

Mangoti conditionally suspended one year of Mudheye’s sentence on condition of good behaviour.

He will now serve three years.

Prosecutors said on November 12 last year, the convict met the complainant while walking on a  road and pretended to ask for directions before pouncing on her.
