Department of Cults and Religion tells ‘guru’ to stop posting content that affects social security on social media

The Director of the Department of Cults and Religion has instructed Nop Sakda, a.k.a Teacher Ae Kru Angkam, to stop posting videos and photos of activities that affect social security on social media.
On Saturday, May 24, 2025, Mr. Tep Kangka, Director of the Department of Cults and Religion of Phnom Penh, with the cooperation of the local authorities of Prek Pnok District, led a team to coordinate and guide Mr. Nop, located in Trapaing Sno village, Sangkat Ponhea Pun, Prek Pnok District, Phnom Penh.
Mr. Tep gave instructions based on the Law on the Right to Freedom and Religious Practice in the Kingdom of Cambodia, the guidelines of the Ministry of Cults and Religion, especially the direct instructions from His Excellency Dr. Chay Borin, Minister of the Ministry of Cults and Religion, to Mr. Nop on religious practices that do not affect security, public order, social stability, and other religions.
Mr. Nop responded and stated the following:
He has indeed posted videos and pictures of his activities of treating diseases, removing evil spirits, watering, the effects of various spells, etc. on social media.
In addition, some of the pictures of his activities are old pictures that fans and social media users have shared, and some have been reposted.
He agrees and agrees that, following the instructions of the Director of the Department of Cults and Religion of Phnom Penh and relevant authorities at all levels, all videos and images posted on social media will be deleted.
He will stop posting videos and pictures of activities on social media (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Telegram, Whatsapp, Cool App, etc.).
