Blount County youth minister arrested for alleged sexual abuse of child inside church

A Blount County youth minister is facing multiple charges in the repeated sexual abuse of a 13-year-old girl inside of a church and other locations, court documents allege.
Just before midnight Tuesday, 39-year-old Terry Murphree of Oneonta was booked into the Blount County Jail on the following charges, according to the Blount County Sheriff’s Office:
Muphree, court documents filed Wednesday allege, abused his position as a youth minister to repeatedly assault the girl inside of “a church, in the defendant’s home, and in the child’s home.”
A complaint filed with the Circuit Court of Blount County alleges that the victim was assaulted “at least 7 times and as many as 15 times” from March 29 through June 22, 2024.
Murphree also allegedly contacted the girl via text and Snapchat in order to request nude photographs and videos, threatening to “kill himself and his wife” if she did not send them, according to the complaint.
The State has allegedly obtained a significant amount of evidence against Murphree including “digital evidence recovered from at least two cellular devices,” and plans to present “live testimony from multiple witnesses” in court.
