A “Very Controlling” Couple Got Michelle Pfeiffer To Unknowingly Join A Deadly Cult

Michelle Pfeiffer is among the many celebrities that have been involved in a cult. Joaquin Phoenix opened up about growing up in the Children of God, and then there’s Tom Cruise who’s been a Scientologist since the late ’80s. But like Phoenix’s family, Pfeiffer didn’t know she was in a cult.
The Scarface actress was in her 20s and had just moved to Los Angeles. She said a “very controlling” couple convinced her to join the group, which “put people on diets” that later turned out to be fatal. Years after that time in her life, she was inappropriately asked about her weight, which she’s maintained with a healthier diet for so many years.
In 2013, Pfeiffer told The Sunday Telegraph’s Stella magazine about the time she was tricked into paying to join a breatharianism cult. “They were very controlling. I wasn’t living with them, but I was there a lot and they were always telling me I needed to come more,” she recalled. “I had to pay for all the time I was there, so it was financially very draining.”
