EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. (KOLO) – On Friday, Feb. 20, former Mormon Bishop Alan Roman Andrus was ordered to register as a sex offender, according to an El Dorado County District Attorney’s office Facebook post.
Andrus was also sentenced to 32 days in county jail and probation, the post said.
On Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2025, a jury convicted Andrus of simple battery and acquitted him of other sex crimes, the post said.
In order to impose the sex registration requirement, the court determined the crime was committed for purposes of sexual gratification, the post explained.
When Megan’s Law was enacted in 1996, these registration requirements were implemented, which requires law enforcement to make registered sex offender information available to the public to enhance community safety.
The Honorable Mark A. Ralphs of the El Dorado County Superior Court presided.
