LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) – Witness testimony continued in the trial of Lori Vallow Daybell in Arizona. She allegedly conspired to murder her fourth husband, Charles Vallow, formerly of Lake Charles.

Vallow’s brother-in-law, Larry Woodcock, spoke to 7News about when things started going bad for Charles because of Lori’s behavior.

Woodcock’s wife, Kay, is Charles’s sister. She went to Arizona with two of her siblings for the trial, but Larry stayed in Lake Charles due to family obligations and is watching the trial on TV.

Lori Vallow Daybell is representing herself. She says Charles was shot in self-defense by her brother Alex Cox, who is also dead.

Larry says his brother-in-law loved Lori so much, even after she started treating him badly.

“Charles loved her so deeply. I was the one, Kay was the one saying, ‘Look, divorce her. You don’t need to go through this. Get J.J., Kay had already told him, ’Charles, I’ll go take care of J.J.”

As Woodcock watches the trial on TV, he’s struck by how easily problems could have been worked out with no lives lost.

“When your wife leaves you for 60 days, doesn’t tell you where she’s at, what she’s doing, drains your bank account, will not contact her two children, all three of her children, J.J. and Tylee being the two children she murdered, he was so emotional about this. I was telling him, ‘Charles, get a divorce. You don’t deserve this,’” Larry said.
