Dubai: A 30-year-old woman, identified as Sangeeta, died after being allegedly tortured by two self-styled faith healers in a remote village of the Sindh Province in Pakistan.
According to police, the accused, Versi Kolhi and Horshi Kolhi, were called to the victim’s residence to perform an exorcism, as it was believed that Sangeeta was possessed by evil spirits. The suspects reportedly locked Sangeeta in a room and instructed her family to leave. They, then reportedly subjected her to severe physical torture during the exorcism ritual, Pakistani Urdu media reported.
Despite her cries for help, the suspects continued their actions until the victim succumbed to the abuse. Upon receiving information about the incident, local police responded to the scene and transported Sangeeta’s body to the Tando Bago Rural Health Centre for a postmortem examination.
Initial findings revealed visible signs of physical violence, including injuries to her face and body. Police have arrested the two accused individuals, who are facing charges of murder and abuse under the pretext of spiritual healing. An investigation is ongoing.
